On September 29, Move Ahead 1 helped promote “Empower NJ 2004” at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. This very special event featured business-to-business and business-to-consumer networking opportunities followed by an evening of powerful and engaging speakers.
Unfortunately, our exhilaration over the success of Empower NJ 2004 was tempered by the news of the death of our keynote speaker, Christopher Reeve, on Sunday, October 10th. Paralyzed from the neck down in a riding accident in May, 1995, Christopher brought his message of hope and empowerment that evening and demonstrated to all in attendance that we can be who we desire to be despite the obstacles life puts before us. As he so eloquently once said, "So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable." We here at Move Ahead 1 will continue to embrace his message and support the ongoing work that the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation will continue to do in his memory.
On the positive side of things, the reaction to Empower NJ 2004 has been nothing short of astonishing! Consider the following statements from some of our vendors:
“…an excellent networking event and also very inspiring with Christopher Reeve.” Maureen Stankowicz Executive Director, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce
“…an excellent opportunity to reach out to a lot of people…” Susan Young Susan Young Media Relations
“…a fantastic idea and a great way for people in New Jersey and other businesses to get together.” Fran Attilio Total Confusion
“…a powerful event that will seriously impact the effect we have on people in our business…(we) will definitely come back again.” Rhonda Bayer Anthony Robbins Companies
We’d like to thank all our vendors for their support that night as well as the following sponsors:

Joel Markel, CEO, Preferred Health Mate Grand Slam ($10K sponsorship)
